If you’re in the market for a top of the line laptop that will offer high performance for almost any situation you could imagine, look no further than the Sony VAIO TZ195N/XC. The name is a mouthful, but this slick notebook delivers serious results. Here are the raw stats:

- 2 GB RAM
- Quad Mode Wi-Fi
- 11.1 inch screen with built in webcam
- DVD+/-RW Drive

The only real drawback is the price. The VAIO TZ195N/XC rings up around $3,400 give or take a couple hundred. I just bought a Sony Vaio FZ430E/B at Best Buy for $1049 dollars..it’s a beauty and it has the Vista SPl…however, I took the first one back right away because it would freeze while I typed on word processor or e-mails; or the thing suddenly skips to what is previously written…the touch pad does not always work…so I went back and got the same model…but this does the same thing…I’m not sure if it’s just very sensitive..or is this a model that habitually has problems…I like the Sony…but I only have a few days to decide whether or not to keep it and try to work things out or return it for ??? I don’t know..do you have any ideas. I need somthing around 5 pounts +/-…a lot of RAM and Hard drive memory…blue tooth, webcam, WIFi…fast, sturdy, RELIABLE!!! Not over $1200..the techs at Best Buy told me that Dells are horrible!!! So…if you could advise me, I’d appreciate it..(I’m going to Africa as a volunteer so I need to work the quirks out here!) thanks, Sam

Hey Sam,
Great question. I personally like Dell laptops. I’ve had the same Inspiron for over 3 years and it’s still working great. You can find a variety of them under $1200. I wouldn’t put any stock in what they tell you at Best Buy. You’ll get a much better deal if you buy a computer online, just look at some of the deals on this site through eBay. Many of these computers come with a warranty so there’s really nothing to worry about. If you still aren’t interested in a Dell, check out this HP Pavillion: http://ilovepcs.com/hp-pavilion-dv6871us-154-laptop-review/
It’s a really solid machine that should meet all your requirements and come in well below $1200.
